Sen. Tanya Vyhovsky calls for an "end to the Israeli apartheid state"
Earlier today the VTGOP obtained an email in which Sen. Tanya Vyhovsky replied to all of her fellow legislators making the following claim in response to a constituent email:
“Thank you for reaching out and advocating for an end to the Gaza genocide. I am completely supportive of an end to the Israeli apartheid state and for the Palestinian people to finally have full rights and citizenship in Palestine. I know that there is not much that I can do as a state senator from Vermont but I will continue to advocate for an end to this humanitarian crisis in Gaza. I know this has been a difficult and divisive issue in the United States due to the widespread propaganda that we have been surrounded by for decades. Thank you for your bravery and for reaching out.”
VTGOP Chairman Paul Dame made the following remarks:
”We are disappointed that a Vermont Senator is adopting talking points from a terrorist organization like Hamas, and using these talking points to gloss over the unprovoked attacks on innocent civilians earlier this month. While President Biden stands with our ally Israel, the only democracy in the middle east, it is disappointing to see extremist views like Sen. Vyhovsky's coming from elected Democrats here in Vermont.
The VTGOP continues to call on Rep. Brian Cina and Rep. Kate, who were also endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America to either oppose, or affirm the statements of the organization that endorsed them in the Democratic primary last year. They should clarify whether they stand with President Biden in support of Israel, or whether they stand with Sen. Vyhovsky in calling for an end to the Israeli state"
