VTGOP Calls DNC Plans to Circumvent Convention a true "Threat to Democracy"

After last week’s unsettling performance at the Presidential Debate, Democrats have been in full panic mode. Many Democratic pundits expressed “panic” or “pain” and began to verbalize concerns about the ability of President Biden to continue in the race.
Last Week the New York Times Editorial Board called Biden’s campaign a “reckless gamble” and argued he should drop out:

Yesterday Bloomberg reported that the DNC is formulating plans to nominate Biden formally in July shortly after the Republican Convention, which would bypass the regular nomination process:

Earlier today Texas Democrat Lloyd Doggett has publicly called for Biden to step down so the party can choose another nominee

And just hours ago the Biden white House appears to be agreeing to meet virtually with every Democratic Governor in the country to see if he can convince them to support him - or whether they should start auditioning for his job:

VTGOP Chairman Paul Dame responded with the following statement:
“This incident exposes the fundamental problem with Democrats in leadership. For months now the signs of President Biden’s capacity issues have been apparent to those willing to see. But Democrats have refused to acknowledge this reality. They had an opportunity to test their candidates in a contested primary, like Republicans did, but the elites in the DNC organized the rules in such a way to push out challengers who could have exposed these weaknesses before it was too late and avoid debates and potential stumbles as all cost.”
“Now Democrats are talking about circumventing their own primary process and overriding the will of their convention delegates because they are worried that Democrats from around the country might do something unexpected. This once again demonstrates the fact that Democrats want all power to be consolidated at the top by a few people, and that they don’t trust ordinary voters with significant decisions. This way of thinking is the true threat to Democracy.”
“I think every Democrat who voted in Vermont’s Presidential Primary has the right to get an answer from the Vermont Democratic State party, elected Democrats and especially the delegates to the Democratic convention on whether or not they agree with the growing number of left-leaning organizations and elected officials that are calling on President Biden to step aside.”
“But experience tells us that once Democrats have committed to a position, they are unwilling to move no matter how much evidence, common sense or constituent contact tries to persuade them otherwise. If Democrats continued to support record high property taxes, home heating taxes and a new payroll tax that went into affect yesterday just because leadership told them to - there is very little hope regular Vermonters have that they will listen to voters on this issue either. When it comes to Democrats everything rests on the decisions of a few people in leadership at the top, not the people at the bottom.”
